So I know everyone has already posted about the snow day here in Vegas, but I am just now getting my chance to say a comment or two about it. SO most of you probably already heard that it snowed here in Vegas on Wednesday. I really do have to admit that it did snow longer than I have ever seen here in Vegas, and it was pretty cool. It started about 1:30 in the afternoon and just kept going until about 8:00 pm. But we live in the Eastern lower part of the valley so it took about 2 hours of non stop snowing before it actually started to stick. In the end we ended up with about 3 in of snow. The southern part of the valley, like in Henderson, got quite a bit more. My brother works in Henderson and when he got out of work there was about 6 in of snow covering his car. We did not have enough to build a snow man, but Kent and the girls made snow balls and put them in the freezer. I have to thank my husband for that great idea because now I am constantly moving the snow balls out of my way to find the food, and Brianna loves her little snow ball so I don't have the heart to throw it back outside.
So what I have to laugh about is that at 8:00 that night the school district declared thursday a snow day. This was the first snow day in Vegas in about 30 years. It did not make a difference to Aurora becuase she is on track break, but Kent got the day off. Normally that would be cool, but Kent is still technically a substitute until January so that just meant an extra day without a pay check this month which is already shortened due to christmas break. What is funny though is that here there was hardly any snow on the streets and by 8 in the morning there was nothing left but a tiny bit on the grass. What is even more ironic is that when we lived in Utah I never heard it declared a snow day and there was always way more snow then we had. Kent and I just had to laugh about it.

Well, you're the only one I know in Vegas, so I hadn't heard it until I read your post. So there! :) Sounds like the citizans of Las Vegas are woosie when it comes to snow! Glad you enjoyed it!
Ah snow days...what are those? Here we have scheduled 'hurricane days' on the school calendar, so if we have hurricanes no extra days, if not, a odd Monday or Friday off through out the first semester of school!
Woohoo! First Southern Louisiana snow, and now Vegas snow?! What is the world (or weather) coming to?
It looks like all y'all had so much fun with it.
Merry Christmas!
Yeah, that is pretty funny. I do hate that Subs don't get paid for holidays. I haven't done any subbing this semester cause of my own school, but I am starting again in January. :) Woot! Go Subs!
