My husband is soooo cool

I just had to do a quick post telling you all how totally cool my husband is. Kent is usually very busy, but school is out for Christmas and he finished his college and school district classes last week so it has been nice to have him around this week. Last Friday I was doing the dishes and I felt water dripping on my feet. I looked under the sink and found that a pipe had completely come off and water was just spilling into the cabinet below the sink. Of course I could not finish the dishes. Kent fixed the sink on Saturday, but we were gone on Sunday so I still didn't get the dishes done. Monday came and there was a huge pile of four days worth of dishes in my sink. Well, my husband got up and did them!! He ended up doing 3 loads of dishes that day and he even did 4 loads of laundry. I was still recovering from my bronchitis and bruised ribs so it was so nice for him to do that. It doesn't stop there. He has done the dishes three more times this week and he has even cooked three times. It has been so nice having him home this week and my ribs are finally almost completely better and I think it is mostly because of all his help. Thank you sweet heart. I love you so much.

Being sick sucks

So I have been trying to get over being sick for no joke 6 weeks now. It started off as a really annoying cold that quickly turned into an even more annoying cough that just wouldn't go away. This has been like the worst most horribly irritating cough ever. It got so bad that 2 weeks ago I bruised my ribs from coughing so much, and Kent had to start wrapping my ribs. We don't have insurance and I was sure if I did go to the doctor they would just tell me it was a virus so I wanted to "tough it out" (plus I hate medicine). Well, a week and a half ago while walking home from picking up my niece from school I coughed so hard that I felt a pop in my rib cage. The pain that followed was so excruciating that I could barely walk the last few feet across my yard into my house. Once inside I luckily found my phone just inside my house and called my mom for help. She luckily didn't have school and was able to immidiatly come over. The kids I babysit just kept asking me if I was ok because all I could do was stand as straight as I could and barely move a muscle. My mom stayed with the kids and my dad took me to the UMC insta care. 3 hours and 4 prescriptions later (yuk!!) I got home. After two breathing treatments and some steroids I was feeling a lot better. It could have been worse the doctor was worried I had a collapsed lung and insisted on an x-ray. Everything was fine I have bronchitis which irritated my asthma that hasn't bothered me since I was a kid and I strained some ligaments in my ribs. Unfortunatly the medicines don't work fast and I am still fighting it, but it is getting a lot better. My ribs really are the most irritating now that my cough is a lot more under control. I keep reirritating them. I am excited to be finally almost over this. Yea!!!

A Snow Day in Vegas

So I know everyone has already posted about the snow day here in Vegas, but I am just now getting my chance to say a comment or two about it. SO most of you probably already heard that it snowed here in Vegas on Wednesday. I really do have to admit that it did snow longer than I have ever seen here in Vegas, and it was pretty cool. It started about 1:30 in the afternoon and just kept going until about 8:00 pm. But we live in the Eastern lower part of the valley so it took about 2 hours of non stop snowing before it actually started to stick. In the end we ended up with about 3 in of snow. The southern part of the valley, like in Henderson, got quite a bit more. My brother works in Henderson and when he got out of work there was about 6 in of snow covering his car. We did not have enough to build a snow man, but Kent and the girls made snow balls and put them in the freezer. I have to thank my husband for that great idea because now I am constantly moving the snow balls out of my way to find the food, and Brianna loves her little snow ball so I don't have the heart to throw it back outside.

So what I have to laugh about is that at 8:00 that night the school district declared thursday a snow day. This was the first snow day in Vegas in about 30 years. It did not make a difference to Aurora becuase she is on track break, but Kent got the day off. Normally that would be cool, but Kent is still technically a substitute until January so that just meant an extra day without a pay check this month which is already shortened due to christmas break. What is funny though is that here there was hardly any snow on the streets and by 8 in the morning there was nothing left but a tiny bit on the grass. What is even more ironic is that when we lived in Utah I never heard it declared a snow day and there was always way more snow then we had. Kent and I just had to laugh about it.

Tagged- A Little About me

For those of you who already saw Emily's version of this that I accidentally posted yesterday, sorry here is mine. I have to tell you a funny annoying story I spent 45 minutes yesterday doing this and then when I went to post it my Internet went down because of a storm. I did not know if it worked until late last night. That is when I discovered that it did post, but just not mine, and everything I did was lost. So here it is again, and hopefully it will work this time (I am saving it over and over again just to be safe).

A--Attached or Single: Attached of course, remember 10 year anniversary coming up.
B--Best Friend: My mom
C--Cake or Pie: Depends, I am more of an ice cream, donut fan.

F--Favorite Color: Blue and pink
G--Greatest Accomplishment: Raising two adorable little girls without too many catastrophes.

I--Indulgences: Anything home baked, cookies, bread, brownies, and don't forget my favorite pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.

Prayers for our friend Kirsten

I just wanted to do a quick post for my friend Kirsten. On Tuesday she suffered from what doctors thought was a stroke. She was luckily talking to a friend on the phone when it happened. Her friend could tell something was wrong and asked her. Kirsten just said something was really wrong and then the phone went dead. Her friend thought quickly and called for an ambulance. Kirsten lives in Delta, UT and they rushed her and Robert up to Utah Valley hospital where they admitted her and began running tests. Her whole left side was paralyzed and numb and she confused her speech which is why they assumed stroke. The CAT scan and MRI came back negative though so they are now calling it a complicated migraine, but they really do not know what it is. She is now recovering. They released her last night, her feeling is coming back in her body and she is able to talk, but she is still very week. Friends and family are taking care of the kids and helping her out. I am asking everyone at this time who knows Kirsten and Robert to please take the time now to pray for her and her family. She is only 30 years old and has 3 little kids, the youngest only 6 months old. Also I think it would be nice if everyone takes a little time now and post a little message of love and support on her blog. I think when she is feeling better reading those will help her know how many people love and care for her. We love you Kirsten!!!
Her blog is dewyzefamily.blogspot.com.

Twilight pics

Hi everyone so I am finally posting my pics from opening night of Twilight. We all had a lot of fun. When I saw it the second time, it really was a lot better. My mom saw it with us and said it was fantastic and loved it. She has never read the books because she is very busy with law school, but her last final is tomorrow so I am going to try and get her to read it during her break. First pic, starting from top left and going clock wise- My sister in law Erica, my sister Melissa, friend Mallery, Me, my friend Nicki, and last friend Katie.

Oh, Christmas tree! Oh, Christmas tree!!

Kent's parents were in town this weekend, Monday night they helped us set up our Christmas tree. We listened to Christmas music and drank hot chocolate. The kids had a lot fun visiting with their grandparents. We don't get to see them very much anymore since we moved away. We love them so much, and miss them. We had a lot fun reliving memories and making new.

Thanksgiving- family, and old and new friends

I love Thanksgiving. This Thanksgiving was spent with family, old friends, and new. We got to spend time with some old friends of ours Kirsten and Robert DeWyze who were in town visiting her family. We had a lot of fun with them. My kids keep talking about their friends Karalee and Leon, and keep asking when we can go visit them.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at my parent's house. It was the first time in I don't know how long that all my brothers and sisters were together for the holiday. It was a full house.
We also got to meet Josh's new girlfriend Ilse (pronounced Eel-say, that's how she told me). She is adorable. We had a fantastic time with her. She is not only beautiful (remember UNLV homecoming queen this year), but she is funny, smart, and she loves Twilight just as much as we do. We spent Thanksgiving with her, and then Josh brought her and her little sister to our house on Saturday. Melissa came over too, and we introduced Ilse to the game of "Kent Always Wins" (scum). We had a lot of fun, and I think Josh is getting pretty attached to her. There is not a day that goes by that he doesn't tell me how awesome she is. We'll just have to see what happens. Well, I hope you all had a wonderful time too.
